Abuelas
Directed by Noemi Weis
Description
From 1976-1983, during what is now known as Argentina’s ‘Dirty War’, more than 30,000 people were ‘disappeared’ by Argentina’s military dictatorship. Argentine-Canadian filmmaker Noemi Weis' film Abuelas deftly follows the story of the Abuelas, or Grandmothers, of the Plaza de Mayo who have never stopped looking for their loved ones. We watch these women seek answers for the children they lost and for the grandchildren that survived.
Followed by a discussion moderated by Luisa Alvarez Restrepo (Project Manager, WarnerMedia Access Canada) with the filmmaker Noemi Weis and Dr. Notisha Massaquoi (Stephen Lewis Foundation board member)
